ISocket revealed today that it has received $5 million in new funding led by Time Warner Investments and Condé Nast, as well as include R&R Venture Partners, a fund created by former Time Warner CEO Dick Parsons and Ronald Lauder; and media investor Vivi Nevo. “A new era in media sales is beginning, and automation will be playing a huge role," iSocket CEO Richard Jalichandra said in a statement.

In slightly awesome music and film news, Elton John’s production company, Rocket Pictures, will produce a Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat animated feature. Steve Hamilton Shaw and David Furnish (Elton’s husband) will produce the film, and John will executive produce it with the play’s creators, Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice. The film is also part of a collaboration with Webber’s Really Useful Group.
The Copenhagen Zoo in Denmark executed a 2-year-old giraffe Sunday in an effort to control inbreeding within the zoo.
Marius, a male giraffe, was reportedly shot in the head and then fed to the lions.

Pounds of beef products from Rancho Feeding Corporation in Petaluma, Calif., have gone on recall due to improperly inspected animals.
Approximately 8.7 million products were said to be unfit for human consumption.
The recall was first announced January 13 when thousands of beef packages processed by the Northern California food company were said to come from unhealthy animals that didn’t go through a full federal inspection.
