Fans of the 1995 James Bond film GoldenEye (and the subsequent N64 game) no doubt know the Arecibo Observatory as the “cradle.”
The famous movie set is actually a 1,000-ft. radio telescope, the largest single-aperture telescope in world. The giant platform is suspended hundreds of feet above the dish by 18 cables, which are attached to three concrete towers.
Well, one of those cables was recently damaged.

Most of us are battling the insanity that Mother Nature is throwing our way right now, which takes a toll on the old brain after a while. The tension of driving on snow-slicked roads, the worries an ice storm can bring, dealing with no power, and cabin fever can all make us go a little mad in winter. The U.S. Department of Justice today announced that Bridgestone Corp has agreed to plead guilty to charges related to automotive industry price fixing. The company will pay a $425 million fine for colluding to artificially raise prices on certain rubber vehicle parts.

I should say a rather interesting and rather appropriate billboard for Little Rock, Arkansas, home of our nation’s 42nd President.
“Who said cheaters never prosper. Happy Presidents Day!” reads the billboard, which features images of Bill Clinton, John F. Kennedy, and Franklin D. Roosevelt. Presidents Day is next Monday, February 17th.

Netflix, adding to its growing role in kids' online videos, has obtained exclusive streaming rights to the new, final season of "Star Wars: The Clone Wars," an animated TV series based on George Lucas's "Star Wars" movies from Walt Disney Co.U.S. and Canadian subscribers will be able to view the 13-episode sixth season of "Star Wars: the Clone Wars" beginning March 7, Netflix said today.

Angry Birds is getting ready to introduce in-game digital video ads in an expansion of its advertising products that the company will unveil soon, according to Michele Tobin, Rovio’s head of advertising. Tobin told Adweek today that the company’s games provide premium inventory for video advertising from brands. “We’re rolling out new video products in Q2 that will be built into the gameplay of a number of games,” Tobin said.
